On Saturday, May 9, 2:00-4:00 p.m., Braum’s, 7101 S. Broadway, Tyler, author April Coker will show you how to easily take your manuscript and format it into a book for publishing. Whether you wish to hold a hard copy in your hands or have readers purchase an e-book, you will learn how easy it can be to take your manuscript and transform it into a book. In this workshop you will learn what formatting is, why it is essential to publishing, and what your options are. Whether you’d like to do it yourself or hire it done, you will need to know how your manuscript should be prepared for formatting. You’ll need to consider spacing, fonts, headings, and which software to use. April will show you how she formats a novel using KindleCreate and attempt to answer any questions you may have. Bring your laptop or tablet with a hotspot to get hands-on practice. Or bring paper for note taking. Don’t have a manuscript ready yet? Come learn anyway.

About April Coker:
“I love words. Mostly written words. I love to write them and read them. A good book is a treasure. I have loved to read from the time I learned to recognize words, and as long as I can remember, I have loved to write.
“After I discovered Harriett the Spy by Louise Fitzhugh in my elementary school library, I determined to follow Harriett’s lead and observe the world around me, without spying, of course! That is when I began putting words on paper and creating worlds and characters and events from my imagination.
“Soon I was sharing stories with my friends and teachers. I received good grades on writing assignments and later became editor of my high school newspaper. I wanted to be a writer.
“God had other plans for me. I taught high school English and science for 30 years first. Then I became a published author. Life is full.
“One of my favorite things to do is camp or “glamp” (glamour camping) in my vintage camper. Miss Millie, my 1962 Scotsman Scottie trailer, is my happy place where I can go to be alone, write, or sit outside with my dog Stella. I belong to ladies’ camping groups and we have a wonderful time whenever we’re together. Learn more about ladies’ camping groups by reading my books “Just Dying to Glamp” and “Murder, She Glamped.” A female amateur sleuth helps solve mysteries at the campground!”
