On Saturday, June 13, 2:00-4:00 p.m., Braum’s, 7101 S. Broadway, Tyler, poet and author Patricia Taylor Wells will briefly discuss the history of chapbooks before encouraging participants to use a wide range of materials (colored paper, decorative stickers and cut-outs, ribbon, and fabric squares at no charge) to create their own chapbook covers and pages. Tools such as staplers, glue pens, scissors, and hole punchers will be available.
Participants may bring their own poems for their chapbook but will need to layout and print their pages by using Microsoft’s instructions for creating a booklet or book (8.5 x 11) folded on short side of page. There will be examples of chapbooks to go by. If unable to bring pre-printed poems, covers can be designed at the workshop for later use.
