Vice President Woody Edmiston called the meeting to order at 6:45 PM.
Pat La Vigne read the birthdays for August. The following people were honored:
Woody Edmiston, Patricia Wells, Renee LaViness, Brittany Raines, Juanita Fletcher, Marsha Graham, Royal Daniel, and John Moore.
Woody asked for volunteers to help in preparation for the meetings (set-up, technology, etc.). Pat Wells announced she has a new book due out in September. Ilenya Marrin asked for people to contact members to return to the meetings. Laura Bentz announced she also has a new book. April will be at the Gladewater Art and Wine Stroll and said she can help anyone who wishes to attend to sign up.
Woody introduced our speaker for the evening—Janice Conlee. Janice provided 37 questions to ask yourself about your writng life. She also distributed legal documents to use when wanting to use a copyrighted photo. April gave an example of what she experienced when she used a copyrighted photo of 2 famous people in a recent blogpost as a warning to the group to be sure they cover all legal aspects before publishing.
Janice then gave us 5 unconnected words to write a flash fiction story in 2 minutes. Those who wished, then read their stories. Comments included how interesting so many diversified results from the same 5 words.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 PM.
